Sun - Dead Man Walking?

Silicon Insider article
Quote:

"I was having lunch with Marc Andreesen, the co-founder of Netscape, now chairman of Opsware, and I told him of a magazine story I was working on, and how it had taken me on a tour of the technical areas of Google. There, Google CEO Eric Schmidt had shown me the company's endless banks of servers, all filled with in-house processor boards, themselves stuffed with older generation chips and cooling fans.

Google, he told me, was never buying expensive servers again, and its use of budget components not only reduced expenses but increased reliability.

"You know what that means, don't you," said Andreesen, taking a bite out of his Hobee's sandwich. "It's the death of Sun."
