Just asking, if you are in England, what makes you subject to a US law? I think that the DMCA is the most idiotic thing next to the f-ing Patriot Act.

Anonymous said...

I think it is because the blog is hosted in the US.

England is not the same thing as the UK; it is simply one part of the UK.

Stop saying England.

its because hoster of this blog, Google, is a U.S. company and subject to U.S. laws. Also, when you sign up to Blogger, you have to agree to the terms and conditions of Blogger.com.

I never knew that a mere hexcode could be deemed illegal.

There's nothing wrong with the way England is used in the sentence above.

I was thinking of an unrelated thing...

It sure doesn't take much to distract you.

So what if I posted a presumably arbitrary binary number like:
10111101100001000001010101101100010101100011010101101000000000000000
?
Could that be targeted for destruction by the MPAA/DMCA/RIAA/WHOEVER THE AA??

Oddly, last week I found myself building a scale-model of a mountain in my living room with mashed potatoes, and sculpted this very same number of the side....What does it mean?!

I for one think it's crazy that they won't let you write down the number 09 F9 11 02 9D 74 E3 5B D8 41 56 C5 63 56 88 C0. Too bad. I understand you had to alter your post.

Heh, and the document is still called "09-f9-11-02-9d-74-e3-5b-d8-41-56-c5-63.html" anyway.

You wonder why their lawyers bother, really. This processing key break is 3 months old, and the moment it was posted (on doom9, slysoft probably broke it before them but kept it private) it was hopelessly compromised. All that their laughable attempt at a legal clamp-down has achieved is to make sure that EVERYBODY knows about it.

Because I am such a geek, I was thinking of changing my name from a traditional alpha character-based name to a hexadecimal based name.

How does 09 F9 11 02 9D 74 E3 5B D8 41 56 C5 63 56 88 C0 sound to you? Does it have a certain 'ring' to it? It does to me.

It cannot be stopped.

Write down this number, for safe keeping. Once all of this blows over, we may spam again.

Save it somewhere that cannot be easily affected. Burn it to a CD, encode it into your executables, do whatever.

And in response to tomatosoup, I own a t-shirt with the number on it. Take this down, MPAA!

what's been used to create such a random random-number...I tried "rand()" but failed with a core-dump...should I use winhex to analyze the dumped core file to find it out? :-)
