I finally figured out Stars Wars 1 - The Phantom Menace
I remember when it came out , it was dismissed by die-hard Star Wars fans as being childish - especially when it came to Jar Jar Binks. A criticism that rose to such an extent that The Phantom Edit was created by one Star Wars fan.
Well, my 5 year old daughter absolutely loves it (just watched it on UK TV today), which lead to my figuring it out :

No ,I'm sorry you've got it wrong. I've been saying the exact opposite since Ep.I came out .Phantom IS childish and never should have been because the original 2 films were not .ROTJ changed that.Episode 4 Nd 5 definitely are not kid's movies they're grittier and darker than the others.Did kids like it sure ,but you have to unerstand the only thing kids like better than a kids movie is one that is intended for adults.Somewhere down the line George lost sight of telling the best story he could and turned it into a kiddie story .I love all these films but he should'nt have gone down that road .Remember the UGH ! Star Wars holiday special? I rest my case.
